About SparkLlama
Meet Teacher Claudia D.
Spanish teacher · Bilingual homeschool mom
I create open-and-go Spanish for families and classrooms — stories, play and native audio built around the moments where children actually use the language.
My story
From the classroom to teaching at home
Hi, I’m Claudia — Teacher Claudia D to the families who learn with SparkLlama. I studied Literature at the Universidad de los Andes in Colombia and taught in Colombia at every stage: elementary, high school and adult learners. The classroom taught me how a language really grows — understanding first, then using it with a purpose.
For years, I’ve also guided my son’s learning at home as a bilingual family, with Spanish and English side by side in our lessons and everyday routines. Teaching at home showed me what children need most: real reasons to use Spanish with the people they love.
SparkLlama brings those two worlds together — a clear teaching framework from the classroom, and the real moments of family life where children actually use the language.
Children learn a language when they have a reason to use it with the people they love.
What guides my work
Three things I care about
Spanish for real life
Children learn words by using them — finding, choosing, asking and telling — not by memorizing lists.
Clarity for the grown-up
Every adventure comes with a guide in English and Spanish, so you can play along even if you’re learning too.
Respect for every child
Pointing counts as an answer, every child moves at their own pace, and the Spanish spoken in your home is a resource.
